broken lock

So, yesterday afternoon was quite an incident that I wanted to share it with you. Yesterday was going fine until the afternoon. It all started when I needed to go to the market to buy some rice and stuff. When I tried to open the door from the inside I found out it was locked. I thought, my roommate must of locked the door from the outside when she left that morning for work. I was confused why I couldn't open the door from the inside. So I took my key and turned the lock from the inside. I did that couple of times until the door finally opened(from the inside). I was still thinking that was strange, I had never had to do that procedure before. So I stepped outside and let the door shut. I then for one minute decided to try my key, because I was still confused. I stuck my key into the lock and surprise it would not turn left or right! I stood there in shock that I was really lock out and I still had the key in my hand thinking, "This isn't really happening, can't be happening..." My roommate has the same key, so it wouldn't do any good to get her key. So I went to the office of the complex and tried to tell them my dilemma. The conversation went sort of like this:
Me- Hello, my door has a problem, it is locked. My key won't work either. :/
Office lady - Your cannot get in, the door will not open?
Me - Yes, I think it is locked on the inside.
Another officer - Is there anyone inside your apartment?
Me(thinking to myself) - If there was someone inside I would not be here asking for your help. Me - There is no one inside.
Me - Do you know of a someone that can help open the door?
Officer - You will probably need to change the lock. I will call someone to come look at the door. Will you be back in 20 minutes?
Me - Yes :/
I was looking forward to getting out of the apartment for a while, but not being locked out of the apartment! So I went to the market and came back in time to watch the locksmith at his best. It turned out the lock was broken. The outside portion of the lock was broken, hence why I could not get back into the apartment. The interesting part was the way the locksmith was able to open the door. All He used was a bent, long rod that he slid through the look-out hole in the door. Looks like an sneaky way to break into someones apartment. This was a good reminder to dead-bolt the door whenever I leave the apartment.
It took about 2 hours for the ordeal to be finished. It was interesting procedure but I really hope it doesn't happen again. I guess Dad is working on my patience. I wish I knew how/why the lock broke. Aiya me and locks don't mix, either I break a key in the lock for break the lock!
