I will need to get more details from Kevin before I share the birth story. Believe it or not it was fast delivery!

He had more tests done on him than his older sister Anna. Poor guy was pricked and prodded everyday at the hospital. Even after we got home we needed another blood sample because of possible jaundice.

Anna is taking all this in as expected. She understands there is a baby brother around and even can say the name 'Will'. Though now she is enjoying the attention from my mom while she visits. The real test will be when grandparents are gone and it is just me to play with her when Kevin is working.

This is a funny picture because Anna likes to bring her cars over and play with them on the pillow. She even brings the pillow to Kevin to play with the cars.

For You formed my inward parts, You knitted me in my mother's womb I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works, my soul knows it very well.

Week 34

Today I have some time to sit down and share a short post. I bet you were sitting on 'pins and needles' waiting for the next post! I didn't think so and who wants to sit on pins and needles?!

Well as the titles states, I am getting closer to seeing baby #2! This boy still has no name BUT we are thinking!
I am feeling just like 34 weeks. Experiencing most of the common signs of the third trimester: random indigestion, shortness of breath, tired, frequent trips to the potty, I have two bladders after all! The annoying varicose veins, no particular cravings but snacking all the time! Baby boy is moving and pushing and he is getting stronger. I have to straighten my back because of his pushing my ribs, bladder and diaphragm, thankfully not all at the same time.  He is head down and I pray he stays in that position! I am glad I am still staying active and social. It would be harder if I needed to stay in bed.
Please pray with us that God continue to allow Baby boy to stay in and prepare us for his arrival.

I am trying to exercise by doing pelvic rocking and sitting on the floor or fitness ball.  I am sure the pelvic rocking would be beneficial to others after a long day at work to relieve some backaches.

Anna is a normal toddler. She loves the iPad, watching Little Einsteins and PBS kids. She mothers her baby dolls and can point to where her Baby brother is. She is learning her the alphabet and working on recognizing numbers 0 - 10. She got a bicycle for her birthday from her grandparents.We will have to wait until the spring to practice pedaling outside.

Kevin is in the midst of finishing this fall semester. His days are eat, work, study, sleep and start over! It has been hard with limited family time. I am glad he is nearing the end of the semester and should have one more semester. I really do not know what will be happening this spring, we just need to finish this month well and get prepared to meet Baby #2!

Thankfully there was no desire for the candy that was given out. Daddy and Mommy got to enjoy some of the candy for her!

30 and 30

This week is an interesting week for me personally. I knew this would be a great time to set aside to blog.
This week I turn 30 years old. What I am more excited about is ,that in pregnancy counting terms, I am finally 30 weeks along! I will not be able to specifically say this again. I will only be getting older.

As we were growing up and all lived in the same state, we usually set aside a Sunday afternoon to celebrate all the birthdays.

This year I asked Kevin for a simple gift. It was more of an action than a item. I asked Kevin to sharpen all the cutlery knives. I had been having a difficult time cutting raw meat. There had been more than once I slightly cut my fingernail for finger! With a lovely lunch together and the usual Wednesday activities we had a good day together.

Anna does not understand birthdays. In fact she didn't even want to open a gift from her friends. Her toddler friends opened her gift and once she saw that her gift was a doll she gladly accepted the gift.

10 more weeks. Any advice while we wait for baby #2?

update

While it seems I may have some time here at the laptop I will be constructive and post an update. I know for some, it has been a long time. Thank you for asking about it earlier, I enjoy knowing some read the blog.

I am happy to say I have reached the end of the second trimester and starting the third trimester! Not that time is in my hands but I go with the pregnancy countdown. Week 27 starting today. Grow baby boy, grow. People are saying I hardly look pregnant, I take that as a compliment.
How am I feeling? I have moments of expected pregnancy discomforts, like bloating, constipation, muscle scrimps, indigestion, varicose veins/spider veins. Thankfully these issues are not constant and do not happen at once, Praise the Lord! On the positive side, I do feel the little bumps and flutters of baby boy moving! He has even pushed my ribs occasionally! I know as he grows this will become stronger!
Have we chosen a name for Baby Boy? No, not yet. Honestly I am waiting on Kevin to give me his opinion.
Has Anna realized she has a baby brother? I knows there is a baby in my belly, however when you say 'baby' she will find her doll and carry it around. We see that God is preparing her, as she plays with her baby dolls. The first months will be difficult for all of us as we transition.
How is life these days? Since September began we have more activities outside the apartment. Kevin has started fall semester classes, full time student + employed full-time. He has also shared on Sunday mornings in August and September as our church is looking for a interim pastor. He needs prayer for time management and time to rest.
Anna and I have continued attending a bible study with BSF(Bible Study Fellowship) at a local church. Wednesday mornings are designated for the women and an evening in the week is for men. They have a wonderful preschool program that follows the same bible scripture the adults study. This year we are studying the life of Moses.
The weekends are full for us. Friday morning Anna and I participate in Meals On Wheels, delivering meals to home-bound elderly people. Then the evening I volunteer with my church coaching Upward Soccer. I am learning with the kids the soccer skills. Then Saturday morning we have a game. Some kids are competitive and try so hard others do not have much of a sports talent. Upwards sports is just for them because we do not focus on the goals but incorporate biblical attitudes and scriptures.
I benefit being outside, getting some exercise and interaction with the team.

100th post

Here is a little tid-bit of an update.

The Hendersons are doing well.  As I shared with someone at church today when they greeted me, "I can't complain!" That doesn't mean everything is under control! Each day is different for Anna and me. Each day she gets into a new mess, verbalizes a new word, organizes her toys in a new location. Sometimes this is annoying, but I need to remind myself she is playing contently.

Kevin has decided to take his fall classes online with an exception of a modular class. I am thankful for this because he will be home in the evenings before bed (8:30pm).
Another reason is that I can continue to see my OB-GYN and deliver baby #2 at the same place Anna was delivered. This Wednesday the ultrasound is scheduled to see if baby #2 is 'a mister or a sister'!
I believe I have began to feel the 'flutter' of movement from baby #2. It is so infrequent that I think it is gas sometimes. :p

Concerning the future, Kevin and I are slowly working on sending out a prayer update. We are asking for prayer in clarification in the call to Vermont. Kevin's seminary journey is close to an end. We need God's understanding and discernment in where He wants us to serve.

We are back

It has been a week since we began the looong drive from Vermont back to Louisville. I know some have asked how was the trip and if we had come to any decisions concerning Vermont.
The short is the trip was good and no we have not come to a decision. Honestly I don't know when that answer will come. The majority of our time in Vermont was driving/riding to several different towns. You will be interested to know the population of the entire state. We visited many villages would be a accurate way of describing the places! vermont population

The opportunities we are interested in are ones that local churches want to have a internship program. This means that we would stay with a certain church for a year- 15 months be mentored and be acclimated to life up there then that church would send us out to a specified area to start a church. We understand the importance of being with people that have the same focus where we can worship with them and ask questions.
We would have support from NAMB but not much to depend on. We would need to be getting support from others.
We are just asking for prayer of finding answers to looming questions and more clear direction about what is to come. Specifically, we have been trying to figure out where it is that God would lead us, and with whom he would have us work.
At this time Kevin is in the midst of a new shift at work, and in the middle of an online class. Starting this fall he will have 6 classes left to graduate. He is losing interest at work, he would rather be working for the kingdom purpose rather than someone else's cable/internet whims. I guess you could also call it 'senioritis'.


I am starting the 4th month of pregnancy and still nauseous. I am praying that this sickness will pass I can stop taking the medicine. I am getting more energy and happy that I can participate in the church upward soccer camp starting this week! Anna is happy to have us back and full of energy and mischief! Her passion now is playing with the iPad. She is getting too 'techie' for herself. I am thankful she still loves to 'read' some books.

Vermont

The time has arrived. Let the road trip begin. I am finally traveling to the northeast. The northeast of the USA that is! ;)

I just wanted to post a short update to let you know what is happening in the Henderson house.
We will be driving on Wednesday and hopefully arrive in Vermont Thursday afternoon. Google maps shows me the whole way is 15 hours of driving. I think to myself that is just 3 more hours to drive compared to driving to Oklahoma! We will see how I do.
We begin this evening when Kevin gets home from work, 8:30pm. We will drive to Kevin's parent's home spend the night and say 'see you later' to Anna the next morning. She will have a week long of bonding time with her grandparents. We will see if Mommy and baby can be apart for a week!

I do not know what is going to take place while we are visiting certain areas in Vermont. I do know there are some pastors that want to meet us and share with us opportunities in their areas. Kevin has been asked to lead a bibles study Sunday evening. Along the way maybe I will taste genuine maple syrup!

We are praying that the Lord show us if that is where He wants us to move.
I am praying that Anna and her grandparents enjoy each other and there be no emergencies!
We are praying for a smooth drive through several states and parts of New England.
I am also praying for all to stay in good health and I have plenty of opportunities to rest.

And again it has been too long since I have posted anything.  I feel like I have multiple excuses but no.
Summer is here, well it feels hot enough for summer. Pool is open, we have yet to go. My summer clothes sorted and winter clothes packed away.
Anna's first trim is worth sharing.

She has played with her hair too much. She has a tendency to twist and then pull her hair. I can only stop her when we see her do it. It seems she does it most in her bed falling asleep.

I was concerned about the trim but it all turned out nicely.

She was not a fan of someone holding her head still!

Oklahoma

The day is almost here, wedding frenzy has begun, well continues in with much force. We have been here since Monday evening. We have visited family and explored grandpa's farm. Now today we head to Woolaroc and begin the countdown! My oldest sister should get a medal for creating the wedding decorations. I will have other photos when they get set up.

My sister, D3, is getting married in April. I am looking forward to the day! As I have been talking with my family I feel and see that the wedding day is quickly approaching. Each time I have skyped them the room has become full of flowers and table-top decorations!
It is stressful to coordinate/plan a wedding. Thankfully my sister is blessed with creative friends and family that are physically helping her with the arrangements. Being that I live half a day away, I just call and give her encouragement and see of she is going over-board with wedding fever.

This is her beautiful dress and it was only $50 alterations!

I am glad that she chose to use my dress. I cannot wait to see it in person!

Here is how I wore the dress. I kept the red ribbon and the lace top.

The wedding is planned to take place at Woolaroc. It is a wildlife preservation of sorts. They have a lodge and a place for events. I have not been. This place was a central location between families. 

I just wanted to share the photos of the dress. It is interesting how sisters can still 'hand-down' clothes they have worn. This instance my sister as well as my parents were glad the dress has worked out!

What's ahead?

I do not usually write a lengthy post, I much prefer to post photos to see. Today I felt I should blog.
Currently I am living life comfortably. Every day I consciously try to thank the Lord for all he has allowed me to do.
 I thank Him for allowing me to stay at home and take care of a rumbustious little girl. Who makes each day a different, interesting day. She is using new words but still relies on high-pitch babbling to tell us what she wants.
 I thank the Lord that my husband is willing/able to work full time AND take classes full time. I am thankful he understands how special it is to allow a parent to raise their children.
I am thankful for like-minded friends that share in the raising children experience. They also provide play dates occasionally.
This semester one of the classes is hebrew, we knew in advance the this class was going to be difficult; but to graduate this class must be taken. It is now week 6, my husband, came home from class stressed. He is ready to be graduated, to be finished with hebrew, to be finished with the degree all together! He is almost there, 7 more classes.
Lately it has been hard for him to focus on his classes. We are both wondering about the future. What does the Lord have planned for us? Where will/does He want us to work for Him?
As a family we want to go! but where? We want to continue to do missions. We feel/see the Lord leading us to places in North America with little gospel outreach. With some research and information from the seminary we are looking at the Northeast, particularly the small state of Vermont. My husband has been in contact with a coordinator there.
I am excited for this new focus, adventure. It gives me something new to pray about, to see how the Lord answers. To see if He leaves the door open or closes it.
As a new day begins it brings us back to reality now, especially my husband, as he drudges on to work, as he reviews his hebrew vocabulary.
I know we are in a season, and I try to encourage him. He is also good at encouraging!
We see a 'light and the end of the tunnel' but we need to keep focused and take one day at a time. The Lord will provide just has He always has.

I hear someone is up from a nap, my blogging time is over.

Grandpa

This is my grandpa. This particular photo was taken January of last year.

 When Anna met one of her Great Grandpa.

I already know Anna and her Great Grandpa shared some enjoyments. Grandpa Voigt passed to his grandchildren the appreciation for music, especially bands from the 1940's. I have a fond memory of watching The Lawrence Welk show on Sunday evenings before church. Another interest was watching musicals like Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. I have found that Anna does not watch television but she will stop playing to watch people singing and dancing. So I have introduced her to Sound of Music and Oklahoma! I feel quite proud that she has shown interest in these.

It is sad to know that she will not meet him here on earth, however, she will see photos and hear incredible stories of her Great Grandpa Voigt! We miss Grandpa but it is comforting to know he is with other family waiting in heaven! He can walk and run; no more medicine no more pain!

Today Anna is 15 and half months young! She is not old enough to begin to drink coffee but she likes Kevin's mug. 

Today is a good day for hot chocolate and soup. We received 2 inches of snow! This winter has given us more snow than expected especially for this area.
